The Velotric Discover 3 is a comfort-focused step-through e-bike designed for commuting, errands, paved paths, neighborhood riding, and longer recreational trips. Its powerful rear hub motor, selectable torque- or cadence-sensing pedal assist, long-range removable battery, air suspension fork, suspension seatpost, hydraulic disc brakes, and included commuter equipment make it a versatile option for everyday transportation and leisure riding.

Best For

  • Comfortable recreational riding on roads, paved paths, and rail trails
  • Commuting, errands, and replacing shorter vehicle trips
  • Riders who prefer an upright position and easy-to-mount step-through frame
  • Customers who want substantial motor assistance without moving to a fat-tire e-bike
  • Riders who want to choose between natural-feeling torque assistance and easier cadence-based cruising
  • Longer rides where comfort, range, and included utility equipment are priorities

Why We Like It at Kickstand Culture

The Discover 3 combines the approachable comfort of Velotric’s Discover platform with strong motor assistance, substantial range, and unusually flexible pedal-assist behavior. Its low step-through frame, upright cockpit, adjustable stem, suspension seatpost, and air fork make it easy to live with during everyday riding, while the 27.5 x 2.4-inch tires provide a useful balance of efficiency, stability, and cushioning.

SensorSwap is one of its most useful features. Torque-sensor mode responds to how firmly the rider pedals, producing a smoother and more bicycle-like experience. Cadence-sensor mode provides assistance primarily when it detects that the pedals are turning, which can be helpful for riders who prefer lighter physical effort and easier cruising. Velotric allows the rider to switch between the two while riding by holding the “M” control.

Compared with the Discover 2, the Discover 3 adds a larger battery, greater range, stronger motor output, an adjustable air fork, SensorSwap operation, NFC unlocking, expanded phone-finding compatibility, and updated connected features. It is a strong choice for riders who want one comfortable e-bike for both recreation and practical transportation.

SensorSwap note: Torque-sensor mode generally feels more responsive to rider effort and more like a traditional bicycle. Cadence-sensor mode can provide stronger assistance with less physical effort once the pedals begin turning. Riders can select the mode that best fits the ride and their preferred level of exertion.

Sizing note: Velotric provides different rider-height recommendations depending on whether the supplied suspension seatpost is installed. The suspension post increases the minimum saddle height. Riders near the lower end of the size range may require a rigid replacement seatpost for proper fit.

Class-setting note: E-bike classifications, throttle use, and permitted speeds vary by road, trail, park, and jurisdiction. Configure the bicycle appropriately for where it will be ridden. Class 3 operation and throttle use may be restricted on multi-use paths and recreational trails.

Range note: Actual range varies with assistance mode, throttle use, rider and cargo weight, terrain, wind, temperature, tire pressure, riding speed, and stop frequency. The maximum claimed ranges represent favorable test conditions and should not be expected on every ride.

Connected-features note: App functions, Apple Find My, Android Find Hub, NFC unlocking, and over-the-air updates may require a compatible phone, account setup, current software, and data connectivity.
