Hands-On Practice

This is more than a demonstration. Whenever practical, participants will have an opportunity to practice removing a wheel, removing and reinstalling a tire, and replacing an inner tube under the guidance of our staff.

What to Bring

Please bring your bicycle or a wheel from your bicycle so you can practice with equipment that is familiar to you. If bringing a bicycle or wheel is not practical, please contact us before registering to ask whether a practice wheel will be available.

You are also encouraged to bring:

  • The tire levers, pump, inflator, or repair kit you normally carry
  • A spare inner tube that fits your bicycle
  • Any flat-repair tools you would like help learning to use
  • Clothing that you do not mind getting slightly dirty

If you are unsure which tube or supplies fit your bicycle, we can help you identify the correct items. Tubes, tire levers, pumps, patch kits, and other repair supplies will be available for purchase separately.

Types of Bikes Covered

The class focuses primarily on conventional bicycle tires that use replaceable inner tubes. The basic skills apply to many road, hybrid, comfort, mountain, folding, and electric bicycles.

Please Note

Tubeless tire repair, internally geared hubs, enclosed chain systems, hub-motor wheel removal, and other specialized setups may require additional procedures and are not the primary focus of this introductory class. If your bicycle has an unusual wheel or tire system, please contact us before registering.

Registration Information

Advance registration is required because class size is limited. Each registration reserves one space for one participant.

  • No physical product will be shipped.
  • Please provide a current email address and telephone number during checkout so we can contact you if necessary.
  • Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before the class begins.
  • If you plan to bring your bicycle, please make sure it is reasonably clean and ready to be worked on.
