The Velotric Summit 2 is a powerful hybrid e-bike designed for riders who want confident performance across pavement, rough roads, gravel, rail trails, park paths, and moderate off-road terrain. Its 750W rear hub motor, long-travel adjustable air suspension, wide mountain-bike-style tires, Shimano CUES drivetrain, selectable torque- or cadence-sensing pedal assist, and hydraulic disc brakes give it substantially more mixed-surface capability than a conventional comfort commuter while keeping it practical for everyday recreation and transportation.
Best For
- Mixed rides combining pavement, rail trails, gravel, and uneven paths
- Riders who regularly encounter hills, rough roads, roots, or loose surfaces
- Customers who want more suspension, traction, and control than a commuter e-bike provides
- Weekend recreation, park riding, gravel roads, and moderate off-road use
- Riders who prefer an athletic step-over frame and adjustable riding position
- Customers who want strong motor output without moving to a heavier fat-tire e-bike
Why We Like It at Kickstand Culture
The Summit 2 fills the gap between a road-oriented commuter and a dedicated electric mountain bike. Its 120mm RST air fork, 27.5 x 2.4-inch knobby tires, wide handlebar, adjustable stem, and powerful motor give riders greater control and confidence on broken pavement, gravel, park paths, and moderate trails. At approximately 57 pounds, it remains substantially lighter and more precise-handling than many full-size fat-tire models.
Velotric also equips the Summit 2 with components that suit its intended use. The Shimano CUES 9-speed drivetrain provides an 11–46T gearing range for steep climbs and faster cruising, while Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes with 180mm rotors provide predictable stopping on pavement and loose surfaces.
SensorSwap adds useful flexibility. Torque-sensor mode responds directly to rider effort and generally provides smoother, more precise control on changing terrain. Cadence-sensor mode supplies steadier assistance once the pedals begin turning and can make long recreational rides or sustained hills easier.
Why Choose the Summit 2?
Choose the Summit 2 if your riding regularly extends beyond smooth roads and paved paths, but you do not need the weight, flotation, or oversized tires of a fat-tire e-bike. It is particularly well suited to gravel, broken pavement, rolling terrain, park paths, and moderate trails where additional suspension travel and traction are useful.
The Velotric Discover 3 may be the better choice if you prioritize an upright step-through frame, suspension seatpost, included rear rack, and maximum everyday comfort on roads and paved paths. The Velotric Nomad 2 may be preferable if you need 4-inch tires, greater flotation, and additional stability on snow, sand, or very loose surfaces. The Summit 2 is the stronger fit when lower weight, more precise handling, longer suspension travel, and mixed-surface versatility matter most.

Terrain note: The Summit 2 is appropriate for gravel, maintained dirt roads, park paths, rail trails, roots, and moderate off-road riding. It is not a substitute for a purpose-built electric mountain bike on technical singletrack, large drops, jumps, or aggressive downhill terrain.
Suspension-setup note: Air-fork pressure and rebound should be adjusted for the rider’s weight, equipment, terrain, and riding preference. Incorrect suspension settings can reduce traction and control or cause excessive bottoming.
Pulse Mode note: Pulse Mode adjusts assistance using heart-rate information from the included monitor or a compatible heart-rate-broadcasting smartwatch. It is a riding and fitness-support feature, not a medical monitoring or diagnostic device.
SensorSwap note: Torque-sensor mode responds to rider effort and generally provides more precise control on loose or uneven terrain. Cadence-sensor mode supplies steadier assistance once pedal rotation is detected and may be preferable for relaxed riding with less physical effort.
Step-over note: The Summit 2 is offered only with a traditional step-over frame. Riders who require easier mounting and dismounting should consider a step-through model such as the Discover 3, Breeze 1, or Nomad 2.
Class-setting note: E-bike classifications, throttle use, and permitted speeds vary by roadway, trail, park, and jurisdiction. Configure and operate the bicycle appropriately for where it will be ridden. Class 3 operation and throttle use may be restricted on rail trails, park paths, and recreational trails.
Range note: Actual range varies with assistance mode, Pulse Mode use, throttle use, rider weight, terrain, elevation gain, wind, temperature, tire pressure, surface conditions, and riding speed. Gravel, hills, loose terrain, and frequent high-power use can reduce range considerably.
Transport note: At approximately 57 pounds, the Summit 2 is lighter than many fat-tire e-bikes but may still exceed the capacity of some conventional bicycle racks. Confirm the carrier’s per-bike weight rating, wheelbase range, tire-width capacity, frame compatibility, and vehicle-hitch rating before transport.
Connected-features note: Pulse Mode, NFC access, Apple Find My, Android Find Hub, Ride Tuning, Bluetooth functions, and over-the-air updates may require compatible devices, account setup, current software, and data connectivity.
