The Velotric Nomad 2X is a full-suspension fat-tire e-bike designed for riders who want substantial comfort, traction, carrying capacity, and versatility across a wide range of surfaces. Its powerful rear hub motor, 4-inch tires, adjustable front and rear air suspension, high-capacity battery, hydraulic disc brakes, integrated utility equipment, and selectable pedal-assist response make it well suited to rough pavement, gravel, camp roads, snow, sand, property use, and longer recreational rides.

Best For

  • Rough pavement, gravel roads, camp roads, snow, sand, and moderate unpaved terrain
  • Riders who want both front and rear suspension for additional comfort and control
  • Customers who need substantial rider, cargo, or rear-rack capacity
  • Outdoor recreation, property use, camping, hunting access, and utility riding
  • Longer rides where traction and comfort matter more than low weight
  • Riders who want to choose between torque-sensor and cadence-sensor pedal-assist behavior

Why We Like It at Kickstand Culture

The Nomad 2X offers more than the oversized tires and front suspension found on many fat-tire e-bikes. Its rear air shock provides meaningful additional comfort and control on washboard gravel, broken pavement, rutted roads, roots, and other uneven surfaces. Both suspension components can be adjusted to better match the rider’s weight and intended use.

It is also an unusually capable utility platform. The high total-load rating, heavy-duty MIK rear rack, powerful motor, wide tires, and included fenders make it useful for carrying equipment and supporting outdoor activities as well as recreational riding.

The tradeoff is size and weight. At approximately 80 pounds, the Nomad 2X may be difficult to lift onto a vehicle rack, move up stairs, or pedal for extended distances without assistance. It is best for riders who will genuinely benefit from its suspension, traction, carrying capacity, and utility features.

Key Features

  • Full air suspension: Combines a 120mm adjustable front air fork with a rear air shock producing approximately 80mm of rear-wheel travel.
  • 750W rear hub motor: Provides strong assistance for hills, heavier loads, starts, and mixed-surface riding.
  • Up to 1,400W peak output: Supplies additional power during acceleration and demanding riding conditions.
  • Up to 105Nm of torque: Helps move the large bicycle confidently from a stop and under load.
  • SensorSwap pedal assist: Allows the rider to select responsive torque-sensor assistance or cadence-based motor engagement.
  • Removable throttle: Provides motor assistance without pedaling and can be removed where throttle operation is not desired or permitted.

Terrain note: The Nomad 2X is designed for rough pavement, gravel, maintained dirt roads, camp roads, snow, sand, and other moderate all-terrain use. Although its full suspension improves comfort and control, its weight, geometry, hub motor, and utility-oriented components do not make it a substitute for a purpose-built electric mountain bike on technical singletrack, large drops, or aggressive downhill terrain.

Suspension-setup note: Front-fork and rear-shock air pressure and rebound should be adjusted for the rider’s weight, cargo, terrain, and riding preference. Incorrect suspension settings can reduce comfort and control or cause excessive bottoming.

Cargo and towing note: Velotric advertises substantial load and towing capability, but safe towing depends on the trailer, hitch system, total weight, terrain, speed, braking distance, tire pressure, and local regulations. Any maximum towing figure should not be interpreted as approval to tow that weight under every condition. Use compatible towing equipment, remain within all component limits, and account for increased stopping distance and battery consumption.

Class-setting note: E-bike classifications and permitted speeds vary by road, trail, park, and jurisdiction. Configure the bicycle appropriately for where it will be ridden. Class 3 operation and throttle use may be restricted on recreational trails and multi-use paths.

Transport note: At approximately 80 pounds, the Nomad 2X exceeds the capacity of many conventional bicycle racks. Confirm the rack’s per-bike weight rating, tire-width capacity, wheelbase limits, frame compatibility, and vehicle-hitch rating before transport. Removing the battery may reduce lifting weight but does not make an unsuitable rack safe.

Range note: Actual range varies substantially with assistance level, throttle use, rider and cargo weight, terrain, temperature, wind, tire pressure, riding speed, surface conditions, and towing. Rough terrain, cold weather, soft tires, heavy loads, and throttle use can reduce range considerably.
